What is does it mean to be clairaudient?

Clairaudience is a type of psychic ability that allows a person to hear things that are not normally audible. This might include hearing the thoughts of other people, or hearing voices that are not physically present. Clairaudience is often described as a ‘voice in the head.’

Most people who have clairaudient abilities find it helpful in their everyday lives. It can be used for guidance and intuition, and can provide insights into situations that are difficult to understand. Clairaudience can also be used to connect with spirit guides and other higher beings.

If you think you may have clairaudient abilities, there are a few things you can do to develop them further. First, try to quiet your mind and focus on what you are trying to hear. If you are hoping to receive guidance, it can be helpful to ask a question before starting meditation. Sometimes clairaudience comes with age, so don’t worry if you have not yet experienced it. All that means is that your abilities may develop with time.

What does it mean to be clairaudient?

Clairaudience is one of many psychic abilities that allow for the transfer of information in ways other than via the five senses (sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing). A clairaudient person receives messages through ‘hearing’ voice tones or noises in their mind or head. They also tend to interpret certain sounds as an answer to questions asked aloud or phrases spoken in their heads.

A clear progression of auditory signals or messages that exist in some form of organized pattern is usually an indication that the process of clairaudience is occurring. These can be sounds such as pop, a whistle, a click, music, animal noises and even words that are heard. However, these don’t have to be always coherent phrases or sentences – they may sometimes come through as fragmented pieces of information.

Sometimes this ability appears spontaneously and at other times it seems to develop over time although this development varies from person to person. In addition as with all psychic abilities, it requires practice and effort before real progress can be made. Part of this practice involves learning how to quiet the mind and listen without interruption or interference from other thoughts. In some instances, it can take years before a person is able to capture clairaudient sounds although in others it may be much quicker.

Clairaudience in history

This ability has held significant meaning for humans throughout time; in fact, many religions have historically regarded hearing voices (whether they are perceived as God’s voice, an angel’s voice etc.) as evidence that one is blessed by the divine, since why else would ‘god-talk directly to them?

For instance in Christianity, Saint Paul was known to be clairaudient, causing him to write much of the New Testament. Joan of Arc heard messages from St. Michael and this led her to be one of the most revered French military leaders in history. Similarly, in Islam, the Prophet Muhammad is said to have received the first verses of the Qur’an from the archangel Gabriel and in Buddhism, there is the story of Milarepa, who achieved enlightenment after many years of meditation and asceticism. All of these individuals are considered some of the most prominent religious figures in history.

Clairaudience has also been acknowledged by modern-day scientists and researchers. In fact, in a study conducted by the University of Amsterdam’s Department of Psychology, it was found that out-of-body experiences (OBEs) – which are often associated with clairaudience – are caused by a failure of the brain to integrate information from different senses. This study provides some scientific evidence for the existence of clairaudience.
